Galicia is an Autonomous community in the northwest of Spain (2 737 370 habitants)

The spoken languages are Galician (similar to Portuguese) and Spanish and the community is divided in four provinces: Lugo, Ourense, Pontevedra and A Coruña.
The capital is the famous pilgrimage city Santiago de Compostela, with his magnificent cathedral of "O Obradoiro". Other important cities are Vigo (in the southern coast area and Europe's main port in the traffic of fish), Pontevedra (historical city with many monuments), Ourense (inland, in a beautiful position near the river Miño), Lugo (inland, with fantastic Roman walls) and Ferrol (in the northern coast area with important ship building companies).

Climate is Atlantic, i.e., warm and wet (18- 36 C degrees when summer), though differences of temperature and humidity, daily and seasonal, grow from the shore to the inland (hotter in summer and colder in winter with less rain).

The topic of Galicia as an always rainy country is just an extrapolation of the climate in concrete zones: for instance, insolation in the "Rias Baixas" area is similar to that in Costa Brava.
