Location / Vicinity

The location is very peaceful on the edge of a small hamlet on the banks of the Miño River, in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra region. The views from the house and land are stunning overlooking the river, with typical terraced vineyards, fields, hills and woods. Within a 15-minute drive you can find the main village of Escairon, with all necessary amenities and services (shops, supermarkets, a health centre, banks, schools, bars and restaurants, etc.). The charming medieval town of Monforte de Lemos is located within a 25-minute drive of the property.

The area has a sunny and mild microclimate with many vineyards producing the best wines in the area and Galicia, mostly made with Mencia and Godello grapes. A good example is Adegas Moure, located at a few Km. from this vineyard and famous for its excellent Abadia da Cova wine. In the surroundings you can find many monuments in Romanesque style, such as the churches of A Cova, Eiré, Diomondi and Sto. Estevo de Ribas de Miño. During the Middle Ages, Monforte de Lemos became an important town in Galicia. Here you can still find many interesting historical monuments. Worth to visit are for example the huge 17th century building of Nuestra Señora de Antigua (well known as El Cardenal, with some paintings of El Greco in a museum), the monastery of San Vicente do Pino and the medieval castle and palace of the counts of Lemos (today a "Parador", by the state owned Hotel), the old Jewish quarter, the convent of "Las Clarisas" with an important museum of sacred art and the lovely bridge over the river Cabe.

Distribution and state of repair:
The property comprises two different houses. A passage with a stone staircase goes through both houses with the main house almost habitable and a second older house to restore. An entrance hall leads to the first floor of the main house.
