Location / Vicinity

he location is very peaceful in a charming small hamlet, with only a few neighbours in the surroundings. The situation is tranquil and rural with vineyards, woods and meadows. You can find all necessary services and amenities in the village of Ferreira de Panton, at walking distance (1,5 Km) from the property. At 12 Km you can visit the charming medieval town of Monforte de Lemos. This lively town offers all necessary amenities, such as a hospital, hypermarkets, all kind of shops, banks, schools, bars and restaurants, etc. The airport of Santiago de Compostela is located at 1 hour and 30 minutes by car.

During the Middle Ages, Monforte de Lemos became an  important town in Galicia. Here you can still find many interesting historical monuments. Worth to visit are for example the huge 17th century building of Nuestra Señora de Antigua (well known as El Cardenal, with some paintings of El Greco in a museum), the monastery of San Vicente do Pino and the medieval castle and palace of the counts of Lemos (today a “Parador”, by the state owned Hotel), the old Jewish quarter, the convent of “Las Clarisas” with an important museum of sacred art and the lovely bridge over the river Cabe.

Distribution and state of repair:
The house comprises two different parts. The stone walls are in good condition with some newer brick parts. On the ground floor you will find as in most of the rural houses in Galicia stables and animal pens. The first floor comprises a first part with a hall (3 m²), a bedroom (9 m²) and an old kitchen (12 m²) with access to the courtyard and a second part with a spacious living / dining room (35 m²), a small bedroom (5 m²) and a balcony with toilet (7 + 3 m²). There are lovely views overlooking the valley of Monforte de Lemos and the green hills with vineyards, meadows and woods. The stone walls are in good condition, although the  house is in need of renovations. Works to do are for example to repair the roof, installing insulation, to repair the floorings, new doors and windows, a new fitted kitchen and furnished bathroom, electricity wiring and installation, plumbing works and septic tank, etc.

Garden and outbuildings:
Adyacent to the house are a barn (the ham / saucisse drying room) measuring 25 m², a building in ruinous state with interior courtyard (40 m²) and two vegetable gardens measuring 86 + 116 m².
